Emelie heeft haar opleiding gevolgd aan de Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Arendonk (B). Haar werk wordt geïnspireerd door 3 elementen:

Passie omdat het naar haar idee een van de belangrijkste drijfveren van het leven is.
Kleur omdat zij dat ziet als de meest onbeperkte uitingsvorm van leven.
Emotie omdat ze dat ziet als verbindende schakel tussen mensen.

Een emotie kan in het kleinste detail te zien zijn. Simpelweg een oogopslag, houding van een hand, kleur en uitstraling van de huid enz. Dit alles inspireert Emelie om de gepassioneerde en emotionele belevingswereld van de mens via het doek, door het gebruik van intense en warme kleuren tot uitdrukking te brengen. Elk werk heeft zn eigen sfeer en gaat een relatie aan met de aanschouwer. Om kleuren zo intens mogelijk weer te geven maakt ze vaak gebruik van een combinatie van acryl met olieverf. Door te werken in transparante laagjes worden de kleuren levend en lijken soms lichtgevend.
